I introduced you to Lena the Sheltie in this post, Two Pooches & a Sherpa. What I didn’t tell you is that hubs and I adopted her from a local dog rescue and while she had an incredibly sad story, somehow, there was still hope in her beautiful eyes. Sadly, Lena passed away due to illness last week.
Lena was my shadow, my writing buddy. She was constantly and loyally by my side, day or night, while I drafted A Thousand Times and completed the first two revisions. She dutifully listened to each out-loud readthrough and every idea I bounced off her without snickering once.
This is the last picture taken of Lena, just hours before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. When the sun’s rays landed on her, it was almost as though the universe was already reaching for her and she truly seemed at peace.
Run free, my beautiful Boopy Girl. I miss you so much already.
Lena
